چکیده

The release of chemical, biological and explosive (CBE) hazardous materials is a very important and recurring topic concerning personal safety and security. Consistently, the public is shocked by attacks of varying dimensions. Therefore, it is important to find methods, which provide the ability to detect and identify hazardous materials at an early stage without having contact to the danger area, inducing the correct counteractions in time to reduce the risk to the public and the emergency services. Especially the detection of biological agents is a major challenge. The great variety of such hazardous substances, their different physical states as well as their different ways of currency, contamination and incubation complicate the detection additionally. [1]

Mixing of the Immiscible Liquids in the Entrance Region of a T-Type Chamber Using Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) Method

A Laser Induced Fluorescence technique (LIF) has been used to study the mixing behavior of two emerging streams in a T-Type mixing chamber. A mixing index on the basis of digital image light intensities is calculated. It has been shown that averaging over more than 800 images leads to a stable mixing index calculation. Moreover, the effect of equal and un-equal flow rates on the mixing behavior...

Strategies for laser-induced fluorescence detection of nitric oxide in high-pressure flames. III. Comparison of A-X excitation schemes.

Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) has proven a reliable technique for nitric oxide (NO) diagnostics in practical combustion systems. However, a wide variety of different excitation and detection strategies are proposed in the literature without giving clear guidelines of which strategies to use for a particular diagnostic situation. We give a brief review of the high-pressure NO LIF diagnostics ...

Standoff detection and classification of bacteria by multispectral laser-induced fluorescence

Biological hazardous substances such as certain fungi and bacteria represent a high risk for the broad public if fallen into wrong hands. Incidents based on bio-agents are commonly considered to have unpredictable and complex consequences for first responders and people. The impact of such an event can be minimized by an early and fast detection of hazards. The presented approach is based on op...

Quantitation of Bioactive Peptides in Serum by Capillary Electrophoresis with Laser-Induced Fluorescence Immunodetection (CE-LIF-ID)

BECKMAN Abstract Immunoassays are commonly used in bioresearch and biotechnology for detection and quantification of small and macro-molecules in biological fluids and other complex matrices. Traditionally, immunoassays have been performed using solid-phase techniques with detection via radioactivity (RIA) or activity of an enzyme coupled to either the antibody or antigen (EIA).(1) This bulleti...

Use of laser-triggered gold nanoparticle-grafted dual light and temperature-responsive polymeric sensor for the recognition of thioguanine as anti-tumor agent

Objective(s): Today, there is an urgent need for improved sensor materials for drug sensing and effective monitoring and interventions in this area are highly required to struggle drug abuse. The present study aimed to synthesize a thioguanine-responsive sensor based on a nanocomposite consisting of AuNP-grafted light- and temperature-responsive poly butylmethacrylate-co-acrylamide-co-methacryl...
